Most of the mobile games I see are mind-numbingly simple or repetitive, which is in general the biggest downside shortcoming of most mobile games. Which made seeing an iOS game as in-depth as Prison Life RPG all the more surprising. As you can probably imagine from the title Prison Life RPG, you control a prisoner, the majority of whom are modeled after pop culture characters (eg. Scorefield, a parody of Michael Scofield from Prison Break). You then have to navigate the labyrinth of prison, fighting for your life in every respect from keeping your health and happiness up to dealing with bullies, to even trying not to drop the soap in the shower. You can even try to break out of prison by planning one of multiple routes out. There are 101 prisoners in total, each with different skill sets, attributes, looks, personal goals that you get bonuses for fulfilling, and sentences, so you can start out by playing as a prisoner with a short sentence to get warmed up. Probably the biggest complaint I would have with the game is that even the shortest sentences are at least 20 in-game days; I often found myself breaking out of prison just for something to so even when the game tried to tell me that my prison sentence was too short to bother with escaping. But the game has enough complexity in the jobs you can do, people to befriend or kill, and personal goals to complete that it rarely feels repetitive. When I first started playing, I was sucked in right away, playing for hours everywhere went. Best $4 I ever spent on a game that resurrected my faith in mobile gaming.
